 Aly "Mendra" Camara is a professional drummer skilled in traditional and contemporary West African rhythms. Aly is based in Atlanta, Georgia and is available for workshops, classes, residencies and performances anywhere in the world.Classes/WorkshopsAly teaches classes at Tessitura Studio in Decatur (www.mytessitura.com). Djembe classes are usually the first and third Thursdays at 7pm and Dundun classes are the second and fourth Tuesdays at 7pm. Please call or email to confirm. Aly will also have a few special summer drum classes (djembe or dundun/kenkeni/sangban) in Piedmont Park on Sundays at 12:30pm. The first class will be 6/17/07. Aly is also available for private classes or workshops at any locattion.  PerformanceAly performs throughout the United States with his group SamaTo, and is also available to participate in, arrange, or direct other musical events. Aly is lead drummer for Les Merveilles d'Afrique of Mohammed Kemoko Sano which performs traditional Guinean drum and dance ballets to international audiences. |
